AN UPDATE FROM OUR DIRECTORS
Twells of Billinghay’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak (Amended 30/03/2020)
John Twells and all the staff at Billinghay have been putting our customers first for over 40 years and we will continue to do that with the evolving situation over the Coronavirus outbreak the world is currently dealing with. We want to let you know that we have taken the decision to close completely at 5.30pm on the 31/03/2020 until the Government restrictions are lifted.
ONCE THE RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED WE WILL BE BACK OPEN TO OUR FULL CAPACITY AND LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU ALL BACK.
The Car Showroom closed on the 23/03/2020 as per the announcement from Boris Johnson and we continued to offer essential maintenance work on vehicles up to the 31/03/2020. As a Garage we are allowed to continue to do this and we felt at the time it was correct to do this to honor the bookings we had in the diary for MOT's and Essential repairs and we now feel it is correct that we close completely to safeguard the health of our Staff and our Customers. We hope you all understand this has been a difficult decision to take as we have been serving the community for over 100 years as a business and we fully appreciate there will be long standing customers of ours who's cars need repairing during our closure but as previously mentioned we have to put the Health and Safety of our Staff and Customers First. In an emergency situation please contact your recovery company (The AA, RAC etc) and they will be able to arrange recovery and hopefully have a list of garages that are still open and may be able to help.
UNFORTUNATELY WE DO NOT OPERATE A RECOVERY SERVICE BUT WE ARE WORKING WITH "SAM'S OF HECKINGTON" WHO ARE CURRENTLY STAYING OPEN FOR RECOVERY AND MAINTENANCE WORK DURING THESE TIMES AS THEY HAVE THE CONTRACT FOR LOOKING AFTER EMERGENCY SERVICE VEHICLES.
Contact Details for Sam's of Heckington are 01529 460800 or Out of Hours 07966 524809 and their e mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Emergency contact numbers are 07725 800184 or 07730 531168 these phones will be on to accept calls during our normal working hours of 8.30 - 6.30 Monday to Friday but please bare in mind we will not have any mechanics available to us during the closure so we would be only able to offer very minimal assistance or advice. If the phones are not answered for any reason please leave a Voice Message or send us a Text.
The Emergency E Mail address is email@example.com and E Mails will be checked once a day between 9.00am and 10.00 am and responded to during these hours only.
Again I sincerely apologize for any issues this may cause this decision has not been taken lightly.
What you need to do
Your car, motorcycle, light van or other light vehicle’s MOT expiry date will be automatically extended by 6 months if it’s due on or after Monday 30 March 2020.
This means that your vehicle will still have a valid MOT certificate for an extra 6 months.
You do not need to do anything for this to happen. However, you must keep your vehicle safe to drive.
This applies to all vehicles, including those that need their first ever MOT test.
Example Your vehicle’s MOT was due to expire on 3 April 2020.
This will automatically be extended to 3 October 2020. You will need to get your MOT by this date.
VAUXHALL VEHICLE SERVICING AND WARRANTIES
Vauxhall have extended the time you have, to keep you warranty valid for either 3 months or 1800 extra miles. Please see below the exact wording from Vauxhall
"Customers can continue to use their vehicles providing that the required maintenance is performed within either 3 months or 1800 miles of the specified service interval. Customers whose vehicles are approaching the end of the manufacturers warranty should be reassured that, if they experience a defect once the warranty has expired that would have been detected if the maintenance was performed at the normal time, that these repairs will be accepted by Vauxhall as covered by Warranty"
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you informed as the situation develops further.
Most importantly we hope all our Loyal Customers and Staff stay well through this
unprecedented situation and we look forward to coming through it together.
John Twells and all the staff
